Immigration authority of Sylhet’s Osmani International Airport stopped actress Nipun Akter while attempting to board a flight to the United Kingdom on Friday morning.

Nipun Akter was attempting to travel UK claiming her name as Nasrin Akter.

However, immigration police prevented Nipun from traveling after objections raised by the National Security Intelligence (NSI).

Airport officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that Nipun attempted to travel on a passport bearing the name Nasrin Akter. Her passport was offloaded by immigration authorities, but as no cases were filed against her, she was released shortly after.

According to sources a specific intelligence officer at the airport objected to her departure, leading to the denial of her travel. While she was not detained or arrested, she returned to an undisclosed location via road after being offloaded.

On the same flight to London political figures Mirza Abbas and Andaleeve Rahman Partho were too present, sources said. 

Nipun, known for her involvement in pro-Awami League campaigns, allegedly leveraged political connections, including ties with Sheikh Selim, to dominate the Film Artistes’ Association as its general secretary. She has faced criticism for unilateral decision-making and using her position to expand her influence.
