Actresses Meher Afroz Shaon and Sohana Saba have been released by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch (DB) after quizzing.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Media and Public Relations department confirmed the matter on Friday (Feb 7) afternoon.

He said, t they were handed over to their families after interrogation.

On Thursday night, Shaon and Saba were arrested from their home in Dhanmondi and taken to the DB headquarters on accusations of being involved in anti-state conspiracies. 

According to police, both actresses were members of a WhatsApp group called "Alo Ashbei," made up of pro-Awami League artists. This group was allegedly involved in both supporting and downplaying the government's actions during last year’s anti-fascist protests.
