Chhaya’s musical evening at IGCC on OCT 25

DHAKA: Prominent singer Chhaya Karmokar will perform in a musical evening in Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) in the capital on October 25.

The program will be organized by in association with Asian Paints, IRCON and Marico Bangladesh.

Karmokar is an enlisted artist of Bangladesh Betar and Bangladesh Television. She regularly performs in different TV channels of Bangladesh and India. 

She received two National Awards in Rabindro Sangeet in 1992 and 1994. She has released two Albums “Anondo Dhara” and “Amar Ja Gaan” and one mixed album “Aro Dao Pran”. 

Karmokar is a member of ‘Bangladesh Jatiyo Rabindra Sangeet Shammilan Parishad’ and ‘Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Shangstha’. 

She is the founder of the music school 'Hrishav Sangeet Angon’.

Karmokar completed her masters in music from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. 

In India, she has trained under Smt. Maya Sen, Smt. Shwagata Laxmi Dasgupta, Smt. Aruna Ghosh etc. She has worked with Mastermind English Medium School as a music teacher. 

Now, she is working as a music teacher at Shurer Dhara College.

Born in Rajbari, Karmokar got inspiration in music from her parents and trained under Tapon Kumer Dey and Nikhil Krishno Naag of Bangladesh. 

At the early age she practiced Nazrul Sangeet for a long time and later she trained in Rabindra Sangeet under legendary Singer Wahidul Haque.
