The High Court on Monday (Feb 7) stayed for a week the appellate board's decision declaring Nipun as general secretary of the Film Artistes' Association after cancelling the candidacy of Zayed Khan.
The HC bench of Justice Mamnoon Rahman and Justice Khandaker Diliruzzaman came up with the order following a writ petition filed by Zayed Khan, challenging the appellate board decision against him.
A rule has been issued asking the authorities concerned to explain why the appellate board's decision should not be declared illegal.
The court also set February 15 for hearing on the rule.
On February 5, Sohanur Rahman Sohan, head of the appellate division, announced both Zayed Khan and executive panel member Chunnu disqualified for allegedly violating the code of conduct under section 10 of the election rules.
On January 28, Zayed Khan was re-elected general secretary for 2022-24 term in BFAA election.
