Dengue: 9 dead, 1,565 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 9 dengue patients died while 1,565 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (August 18), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 804 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 761 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 453 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 3,623 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 3,950 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 95,877 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 46,933 were in Dhaka and 48,944 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 87,851 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 46,933 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 48,944 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
