Dengue: 13 dead, 2,070 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 13 dengue patients died while 2,070 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (August 23), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 857 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,213 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 506 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 3,580 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 4,245 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 1,06,429 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 51,027 were in Dhaka and 55,402 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 98,098 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 47,073 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 51,025 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
