Dengue: 14 dead, 2,598 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 14 dengue patients died while 2,598 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (September 16), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 881 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,717 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 804 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 4,208 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 6,122 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 1, 64,562 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 72,384 were in Dhaka and 92,178 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 1, 53,283 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 67,624 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 85,804 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
