Dengue: 18 dead, 3,112 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 18 dengue patients died while 3,112 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (September 17), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 849 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 2,273 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 822 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 4,066 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 6,371 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 1, 67,684 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 73,233 were in Dhaka and 94,451 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 1, 56,424 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 68,603 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 87,822 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
