Dengue death toll rises to 1,079 as 15 more die in 24 hours

At least 15 dengue patients died while 2,158 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (October 7), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 585 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,573 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total of 1,079 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

A total of 2,20,822 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 87,582 were in Dhaka and 1, 33,240 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 2,10,572 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 83,987 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 1,26,585 others left hospitals outside the capital.

According to DGHS, 2,912 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 6,259 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered last year.
