Hospitals in Bangladesh have recorded eight new cases of dengue fever in 24 hours till 8 am today (February 10), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The death toll remained unchanged with no fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in the 24-hour count to Saturday morning, said the DGHS release.

In the 24 hours, 6 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 2 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, it added.

Besides, this year, a total of 16 patients died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

A total of 1,210 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. 

Of them, 416 were in Dhaka and 794 were outside the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 1,080 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 354 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 726 others left hospitals outside the capital.

According to DGHS, 52 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 62 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

Last year, a total of 1,705 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 3, 21, 179 patients were admitted in hospital.
