Measles and Rubella campaign begins Saturday

DHAKA: The immunization campaign to protect children of the country from the deadly Measles and Rubella will be begun on Saturday.

Health Minister Mohammad Nasim made the disclosure in a press conference at secretariat on Wednesday.

He said in the campaign child from nine months to under 15-years will be given one dose MR vaccine and  two doses Polio vaccine to under five years children till February 13.  

The minister claimed that Measles and Rubella campaign would be the largest campaign in the world.

Around 67,000 trained workers and 241,000 volunteers would participate in the programme.

Besides, under this campaign, around 5.20 crore child will be given MR vaccine and 2.20 crore will be given Polio vaccine.

He, however, urged the people not to worry by any kinds of rumor during the campaign.
