Regular hospital visit can spread infection, Home advisor to reporters

Home Affairs Adviser to the interim government Lieutenant General (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today (August 21) told journalists not to visit hospitals regularly as it can spread infection among the patients.

He said people who were injured during the anti-discrimination student movement are receiving world-class care under the supervision of some renowned doctors at the BGB Hospital in the capital.

He made the remarks while replying to the queries of the newsmen present at Pilkhana Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) hospital premises this morning, shortly after visiting the injured BGB members and students.

Infection is more likely to spread through visitors. You (journalists) should try to stay away from the patient, he said.

He said: "The patients at the BGB hospital are in good hands. They have been doing better than before. The hospital authorities are working sincerely to provide them with necessary treatment and care."

"The Director General (DG) of the BGB has said some more patients will be brought to the hospital for better treatment," he said.

The advisor then urged the countrymen to come forward along with the interim government and to work from their respective positions to ensure good care of the injured.
