DHAKA: There are survivors from a plane carrying at least 10 people that crashed on Friday night near the western Alaska village of Saint Marys, the authorities have said.

Alaska State Troopers spokesman Megan Peters said ‘there are survivors, and we are working our best to get them help’, reports The Straits Times.

She said she had no confirmation of any fatalities. Peters said she believed the plane carried 10 people but did not have an official count.

National Transportation Safety Board investigator Clint Johnson said the Cessna 208 was an Era Alaska flight.

Johnson said he believes a rescue crew from the village was the first to reach the crash site about 6km away.
