DHAKA: Yet another gang-rape has sent shock waves across West Bengal, just days after a rape-murder of a 19-year-old woman in the state, ruled by a woman chief minister.

This time, the victim was a class 10 student who was allegedly gang-raped on Friday night by three men who reportedly made a video on their mobile phones and threatened to make them public if the girl complained against them.

The men were arrested after the 19-year-old girl lodged a complaint with the police, gulfnews.com publishes this report on Monday.

The government, led by chief minister Mamata Banerjee, also went into a tizzy as it tried to fathom the social and administrative response to protect the women in the state.

A high-level meeting was chaired at the police headquarters and also at the state secretariat attended by the chief secretary and home secretary along with top brass of the police department.

However, the police found themselves in a difficult situation considering the nature of the criminals involved.

‘Most of the offenders are first time criminals without any police record. Also considering their age, it is beyond imagination as to who will be the next to commit such heinous crime,’ said an investigating officer.
