Danish woman gang-rape in Delhi, several detained

DHAKA:  A 51-year-old Danish woman was allegedly beaten, robbed and gang-raped in Connaught Place or CP in the heart of New Delhi on Tuesday evening.

A Danish national, who was traveling New Delhi, had gone to visit a museum and while returning back to hotel in Paharganj lost her way in the area when a group of men stopped her, robbed and gang-raped her.

The woman after returning to her hotel narrated her ordeal to near ones, who further informed the police.

Delhi Police have detained several people in connection with the case and had been interrogating them.

The Danish Embassy has also pitched in and asked the authorities for swift action in this case.

The victim left for Denmark on Wednesday morning, reported Zee News.

In December 2012, the brutal gang-rape of a 23-year-old medical student on a moving bus brought angry citizens out on the roads demanding better safety for women in the capital and more scrupulous rape laws.
