DHAKA: A policeman has been jailed for three years for picking up a saleswoman from a nightclub near Ibn Battuta Mall and having sex with her in his car against her will.

The Dubai Court of First Instance sentenced the 25-year-old policeman, NH, from Comoros Islands, to three years with having sex with the Moroccan woman against her will.

The defendant had pleaded not guilty and countered the saleswoman’s claims that he raped her contending that they had consensual sex in March 2013.

‘The accused will be deported following the completion of his jail term,’ said presiding judge Maher Salama Al Mahdi. Records said the victim was standing with two friends at the entrance of the nightclub waiting for a taxi when a sports utility vehicle approached them and the man in the passenger seat waved to the woman.

The 31-year-old girl walked towards the window and chatted with him for a short while before she jumped into the back seat.

The driver took off immediately and the saleswoman waved goodbye to her friends.

The Moroccan saleswoman claimed that she accepted the men’s offer to drop her to her friend’s place in Al Muraqqabat, reports gulfnews.com.
