DHAKA: A major fire broke out at Ceat factory in the eastern suburb of Nahur on Sunday evening.
Ten fire engines and eight water tankers were rushed to the spot. The fire broke out at 5.40pm and firefighting operations are still on. The entire area was covered with smoke.
Train services on the Central Railway were affected due to the fire. Central Railway spokesman AK Singh said that the huge flames spread to the nearby Nahur station, especially near the tracks.
‘While we did not stop the train services, we diverted trains from the slow to the fast tracks from 6pm,’ he stated, reports The Times of India.
However, trains services were hit as the frequency of both Up and Down trains were affected, sources said.
The services were running behind schedule. In fact, there was a megablock in the afternoon due to which several passengers were inconvenienced already.
‘Due to the fire, the services were hit again and there were delays,’ a commuter complained.
