Foreign nationals must register to stay over 30 days in US

The White House has issued a new directive requiring all foreign nationals who have been in the United States for more than 30 days to register with federal authorities or face severe consequences, including fines, jail time, and possible deportation.

The regulation applies to all foreign nationals, including visa holders and lawful permanent residents. They must carry proof of registration at all times.

Newly arrived individuals without valid documentation are required to register within 30 days of entering the country.

The Department of Homeland Security stated that anyone entering the U.S. after April 11 must comply with the registration rule within a month. Additionally, children who turn 14 must re-register, even if previously registered. The deadline under the Alien Registration Act was set for April 11.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the move is aimed at strengthening national security and enforcing immigration laws. She stressed the importance of knowing who is present in the country for the safety of the American people. Failure to comply may lead to fines of up to $5,000, up to 30 days in jail, deportation, and a permanent ban from re-entry.
