Over 200 killed, 300,000 displaced in Gaza within 48hr

Israeli military operations in northern Gaza over the past 48 hours have left more than 200 Palestinians dead and displaced approximately 300,000 civilians, according to a statement released Saturday by the Gaza Media Office.

Labeling the attacks as part of a "continued series of massacres," the Office said the fatalities occurred in the northern governorate alone. It accused Israel of committing yet another atrocity amid the ongoing conflict.

More than 1,000 homes have been either completely destroyed or severely damaged, forcing hundreds of thousands of residents to flee toward Gaza City, a location already crippled by a lack of infrastructure and basic humanitarian support.

The Media Office reported that roughly 140 individuals remain trapped beneath rubble, as Israeli forces are allegedly blocking emergency teams from accessing the affected areas, in what the statement described as a “clear breach of international humanitarian law.”

The statement further claimed that Israeli drones deliberately set fire to hundreds of tents sheltering displaced residents in areas such as Tel al-Zaatar in Jabalia Camp, Beit Lahia, and surrounding regions—acts carried out under what it termed a “complicit global silence.”

In Gaza City, the Office warned of worsening humanitarian conditions, with families left homeless and seeking refuge on sidewalks and streets, particularly along al-Jalaa Street and in the al-Saftawi area.

Food, clean water, and medical supplies remain virtually nonexistent due to a continued siege and ongoing airstrikes.

The Office called for urgent international action, demanding access for humanitarian aid, rescue missions for the injured and deceased, and legal accountability for Israeli leadership through international courts.

According to figures compiled by Anadolu from Gaza’s Health Ministry, Israeli forces have killed over 378 Palestinians during U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent four-day Gulf visit—nearly quadruple the number killed in the four days prior to his arrival, when around 100 deaths were recorded.

Israel has blocked all humanitarian aid, including food, water, and medicine, from entering Gaza since March 2.

The bombardment resumed following the collapse of a ceasefire on March 18. The total death toll in Gaza since the war began in October 2023 has now surpassed 53,200.
