A state funeral was held in Tehran on Saturday for nearly 60 individuals, including senior military officials and nuclear scientists, who died during the 12-day confrontation with Israel.

Crowds gathered near Enghelab Square in central Tehran as flag-draped coffins bearing the images of fallen commanders were carried through the streets. Mourners, dressed in black, chanted slogans, waved national flags, and paid their respects to those killed.

The funeral procession included the body of General Mohammad Bagheri, the chief of staff of Iran’s armed forces, making him the highest-ranking official among the casualties. Also being honored were Islamic Revolutionary Guards commander-in-chief Hossein Salami and prominent nuclear scientist Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi, head of Azad University.

The confrontation ended earlier this week following a ceasefire, which was reached after the United States launched airstrikes on several Iranian nuclear sites.

U.S. President Donald Trump, addressing reporters at the White House, did not rule out further military action. In response to a BBC question, he stated he would “without question” strike again if intelligence showed Iran advancing its uranium enrichment program.

Trump later criticized Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, claiming the leader had lied about winning the conflict. He asserted that he had spared Khamenei’s life, posting on his Truth Social platform that he “saved him from a very ugly and ignominious death.”
