DHAKA: At least 300 miners are trapped after an explosion caused a fire triggering a collapse at a coal mine in the western Turkish province of Manisa.

At least one miner was killed and 19 others hospitalised, an official said, reports Al Jazeera.

The mayor of Soma, a district in Manisa, was quoted by media as saying 20 workers had been rescued.

Local administrator Mehmet Bahattin Atci said the explosion was caused by a power distribution unit and ‘Rescue efforts are under way’.
