DHAKA: Janata Dal (United) chief Sharad Yadav sent feelers to rival Lalu Prasad that his party was willing to work with the latter’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) to forge out a ‘secular alliance’ to govern Bihar.

This comes in the wake of the resignation of Nitish Kumar as chief minister of Bihar following the drubbing JD(U) received in the Lok Sabha election. JD(U), which had 20 seats in the 15th Lok Sabha, has been reduced to just two after this election.

Bihar has 40 Lok Sabha seats.

According to a media report, Sharad Yadav said the JD(U) legislature party will meet on Sunday to elect a new chief ministerial candidate.

He said a new government will be formed in Bihar and it will be led by the JD(U).

Sending a message to RJD chief Lalu Prasad, the JD(U) chief said that his party is ready to sink differences with Prasad for forming ‘secular alliance’ government in Bihar, reports The Times of India.
