DHAKA: At least 23 people have been reportedly killed, including security personnel, and 14 others injured by the armed gunmen at Karachi international airport in Pakistan on Sunday night.

An army spokesman said all 10 of the gunmen who attacked Jinnah International Airport's old terminal had also been killed.

Army commandos were called in, and gunfire lasted for more than five hours before the airport was secured, reports BBC.

All operations at the terminal remain suspended and all flights are being diverted to other airports.

Staff and passengers were evacuated.

Quoting Pakistan Army spokesman, Dawn.com reports: the entire airport has been cleared and that all militants have been killed. A search operation was conducted by the security forces in the early hours of Monday morning during which five SMGs, three suicide jackets, two rocket launchers and 12 petrol bombs were recovered.
