KOLKATA: Nur Hossain, the prime accused of Narayanjganj 7-murder case, along with his two accomplices, has been sent to the jail custody for 14 days.
After that, they will be extradited to Bangladesh with the help of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), sources added.
The three detainees Nur Hossain, Sumon Khan and Ohidur Rahman Shamim were produced before Barasat court in India Monday afternoon.
Magistrate Madhumita Roy heard the prosecution and passed the order to send the detainees in judicial custody for 14 days.
Sources told banglanews that there was no lawyer appeared for the three Bangladesh nationals at the hearing.
Roy also read out the request for extradition from Bangladesh home affairs ministry for Nur Hossain, Sumon Khan and Ohidur Rahman Shamim.
However, if India inclined to accede Bangladesh’s request to extradite Nur Hossain, he would be the first Bangladeshi to be deported from the neighboring country since the signing of the extradition pact between the two countries in December 2013.
In this regard, The Indian Express on Sunday published a report where a senior Indian government official said that they are looking into the case and may consider Bangladesh’s request favorably.
On June 16, a day after, the three were arrested from Indraprastha Apartment in Baguiati near Kolkata's Netaji Subhas airport. Later, they were sent on an eight-day police remand.
The absconding Narayanganj councilor, prime accused in the multiple murders case, was booked under Arms Act and Foreigners Act for illegal trespass into Indian Territory without valid travel document and for illegal possession of a weapon.
He was produced in the district court in Barasat by West Bengal police on that day.
Nur Hossain is believed to be the mastermind of the Narayanganj multiple murders, for which some RAB officers are now in the dock.
