DHAKA: Chinese media says at least 65 people have been killed and 120 injured in a blast at a workshop in Kunshan, a city in eastern Jiangsu Province, where more than 200 workers were operating.

The Xinhua state news agency said it occurred at 7.37am (23:37 GMT) on Saturday morning at a car wheel polishing workshop owned by the Taizhou Zhongrong Metal Products company.

State broadcaster China Central Television said the explosion had "resulted in 65 deaths and the number of injured persons is still being estimated".

Kunshan hospital staff confirmed more than 100 burn victims had been admitted to the hospital and multiple medical teams had arrived at the scene of the explosion.

Taizhou Zhongrong Metal Products officials have yet to comment on the incident.
