DHAKA: Hamas accused Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas of trying to sabotage the unity deal between the two Palestinian factions.
Media reported on Monday, says The Jerusalem Post.
At a meeting with Egyptian media representatives in Cairo Saturday night, Abbas said his partnership with Hamas couldn’t continue as long as the situation in the Gaza Strip remains unchanged.
Abbas accused Hamas of running its own ‘shadow government’ in the Gaza Strip through 27 directors-general who were managing various ministries.
Media quoted Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum as responding that the Palestine president was trying ‘to destroy the reconciliation and play into the hands of the Americans and the Israelis’.
