DHAKA: A peace deal between Houthi rebels and government loyalists in Yemen appears to be in jeopardy.
The Houthis have taken control of government buildings and a radio station in Sanaa, and a major army base north of the capital, reports Al Jazeera.
Al Jazeera’s Mohamed Vall, reporting from Sanaa, said that a ‘slow-motion coup’ is taking place in the capital.
He said that the Houthis are marching to the army headquarters.
Also on Sunday, the prime minister tendered his resignation in statement in which he criticised the president.
