DHAKA: Yemeni prime minister Mohamed Basindwa has resigned amid escalating clashes in the capital between Shia Houthi rebels and pro-government forces.
Reports say, according to the BBC.
Fighting intensified in Sanaa, casting doubt on the viability of a truce deal announced by a UN envoy on Saturday.
The rebels reportedly took over state radio and TV, and are battling Sunni militia and government troops at a university complex.
Scores have died in the recent fighting, Yemen’s worst crisis since 2011.
