DHAKA: Four primary schoolchildren were killed in a knife attack by a man in south China’s Guangxi region, the latest such incident in the country in recent years.

The four children in Pingshan town of Lingshan county were attacked by the knife-wielding middle-aged man at about 6:20 am (local time) Thursday while they were on way to the Gupu primary school.

Three children died on the spot and another died later at a nearby hospital, reports the Times of India on Friday.

Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect, the report said.

China has recently been witnessing a spate of knife attacks carried out by disgruntled people with various social grievances.

Such copycat attacks were carried out across China specially targeting primary schools and bystanders at malls and on streets.
