DHAKA: LUCKY black cat Dyson plunged 150ft from his tower block home and survived.

Owner Joanna Kane, 39, said: “Dyson was playing with the curtains near an open window and before I could do anything to stop him he disappeared out of it.

“I heard him hit the concrete outside and rushed straight downstairs.

"I didn’t think he’d be alive but he was still breathing.”

The plunge from the 13th floor was close to the height of Nelson’s Column and would have killed a human instantly, reports express.co.uk.

Dyson was taken to the Blue Cross Animal Hospital and X-rays revealed he had a badly fractured pelvis and lung damage.

After surgery, Dyson remained in the care of the Blue Cross veterinary team for more than three weeks before returning home to south-west London.

Mark Bossley, chief surgeon at the animal hospital in Victoria, central London, said yesterday: “Dyson is very lucky.

"It was touch and go at the beginning.

“We see lots of cats who have fallen from windows but I’ve never come across a cat that has fallen from such a height.”

Scientists say a cat’s high body surface area to weight ratio means that while a human falling 150ft would hit the ground at 120mph, cats land at half the speed.

Joanna said: “I don’t leave windows open any more.

"I am so grateful to Blue Cross for helping him get better.”
