5 Indian Army men, 2 cops killed in J&K gunbattle

DHAKA: At least five Indian army men and 2 police officials were killed in a gunbattle that broke out after militants attacked an army base camp in Uri sector of Jammu & Kashmir in India on Friday, according to Times Now.

Two terrorists are also reported to have been killed in the gunfight.

According to reports, three-four militants entered the Army camp near LoC in Uri town of Baramulla district and opened fire at the army bunker.

The attack comes three days before Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Jammu to campaign for the ongoing assembly elections.

A soldier was killed in an ongoing gunbattle between security forces and militants near the international border in Jammu & Kashmir last week.
