DHAKA: Fighting between government troops and pro-Russian rebels in Ukraine has left more than 300 people dead in less than a month, taking the overall toll to 4,634.
The UN said on Saturday in its latest report on the conflict, reports The Straits Times.
Some 10,243 people have been wounded since the conflict erupted in the ex-Soviet republic’s east in April, UN’s humanitarian agency OCHA said in a statement.
More than 1.1 million people have been displaced - 542,080 internally and 567,956 fleeing to neighbouring countries, the vast majority, 465,721, to Russia, it said.
Some 5.2 million people live in conflict-afflicted areas, it said.
