Mamata invited to visit Bangladesh

KOLKATA: India’s West Bengal chief minister (CM) Mamata Banerjee has been invited to visit Bangladesh.

Bangladesh deputy high commissioner in Kolkata, Zokey Ahad, on Monday, handed over the invitation letter sent by the country’s foreign minister AH Mahmood Ali, Sources told banglanews.

Mamata, however, received the invitation cordially, sources added.

India’s West Bengal panchayat minister Subrata Mukherjee, minister for municipal affairs Firhad Hakim, Kolkata mayor Sovan Chatterjee and West Bengal chief secretary Sanjay Mitra, among others, were also present at Nabanna, the state secretariat of West Bengal here in industrial township of Howrah during handing over the invitation letter.

On the other hand, councilor Mia M Mainul Kabir, also the chancery chief, councilor Abu Nasar M Anwarul Islam and first secretary (press) Mofakkharul Iqbal accompanied Bangladesh deputy high commissioner.
