DHAKA: Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis is to visit the European Central Bank in Frankfurt on Wednesday.

An ECB spokesman told the media, reports The Straits Times.

The spokesman gave no details of the timetable of the visit or whether Varoufakis would meet ECB chief Mario Draghi.

But the ECB’s policy-setting governing council is scheduled to meet on Wednesday and vote whether to provide emergency liquidity assistance (ELA) to Greek banks.

Varoufakis already paid a visit to his British counterpart George Osborne in London on Monday as he seeks to build support for a renegotiation of his country’s 240 billion euro bailout.
