DHAKA: At least 17 people were killed as a fire broke out in a wholesale market in Guangdong province of southern China.
The fourth floor of the building in Huidong county was ablaze on Thursday afternoon, local government said.
More than 200 firefighters was working to bring the fire under control, reports he BBC.
Footage showed an excavator dismantling one wall of the building to allow trapped people to escape.
The Communist Party’s propaganda department in Huidong county said the cause of the fire was under investigation.
However, police detained nine managers of the mall.
