Argentina helicopter crash kills 10

DHAKA: Ten people were killed after two helicopters collided during the filming of a television show in north-west Argentina, reports BBC.

Those dead were eight French nationals and their two Argentine pilots.

They crashed near the town of Villa Castelli, about 1,170km (720 miles) from Buenos Aires, according to local officials.

Some of the victims are reportedly contestants of the survival show Dropped.

The show flies celebrities into rough terrains by helicopter and films them finding their attempts to find food and shelter.

La Rioja’s security chief Cesar Angulo said, “Apparently there was a crash in which 10 people died. There were no survivors, according to the information we have.”

One of the contestants, former France and Arsenal footballer Sylvain Wiltord, tweeted: “I’m sad for my friends, I’m trembling, I’m horrified, I have no words, I don’t want to say anything.”

The cause of the crash is unclear. Officials have said the weather conditions in the mountainous area where it happened were good.

Dropped is a reality television show and starred several French sports personalities.
