DHAKA: After Helal Uddin, another Bangladeshi has been identified among nine foreign nationals taken hostage by militant group ISIS from Al Ghani Oil Field in Libya on Friday.
Bangladesh Embassy in Tripoli confirmed about particulars of the Bangladeshi national named Mohammad Anowar Hossain, Passport No.: AE 3630754, District: Noakhali, Bangladesh.
A press release from Ministry of Foreign Affairs made the disclosure on Tuesday afternoon.
Anowar was abducted from the oil field in south of the city Sirte on Friday, 06 March 2015 in the same incident when gunmen invaded the oil field killing eleven guards, beheading a number of them, before local forces fought back to retake control.
It has been informed that initially Anowar was mistakenly identified as Sudanese national having similar name.
However, Anowar’s identification was confirmed by a Bangladeshi working in a neighboring oil field.
Libyan Foreign Ministry informed our Mission that they were trying heart and soul to rescue them. After this attack on last Friday, 21 Bangladeshis were taken to safe places who were employed in another neighboring oil field. Bangladesh Embassy in Tripoli is maintaining constant vigil on the matter.
