DHAKA: It’s the House of Cards meets The Americans. Dogged by controversies throughout their career over dodgy links to many dubious associates, Hillary and Bill Clinton are suddenly in the midst of another raging storm that could potentially damage the former First Lady and former secretary of State’s Presidential bid in 2016.

Following up on charges contained in a forthcoming book called Clinton Cash by a Conservative activist, the New York Times on Thursday virtually validated its central allegation that foreign donors, and Russians in particular, funneled money into the Clinton Foundation in an effort to buy influence in a potential Hillary Clinton Presidency, reports the Times of India.

The principal story details how Russians gradually assumed control of a Canadian uranium mining company called Uranium One even as its chairman used his family foundation to make four donations totaling $2.35 million to the Clinton Foundation. Shortly after the Russians announced their intention to acquire a majority stake in Uranium One, Bill Clinton received $500,000 for a Moscow speech from a Russian bank with links to the Kremlin that was promoting Uranium One stock, the paper said.
