THAMEL, KATHMANDU: The nerve wrecking disastrous earthquake has brought down the Nepalese on the streets but the urge of livelihood has compelled them to forget the shock.

Thamel, the tourist spot of Nepal is now awakening from shock wave after facing the destructive natural calamity.

With the expectation of tourists, shoppers, hotel staff and others including taxis are returning to their workplaces. Simultaneously, the brightness of the lights is also increasing.

On May 7, Nepal has crossed the thirteenth day of its tragedy but now trying utmost to get back the old golden days.

On April 25 the favorite tourists spot became ghostly. The buildings were partially damaged and was declared ‘unsafe zone’.

To save from the tremors, most people went to the plain area like Torai. The Thamel inhabitants decided to stay at plain land waiting for normalizing of the situation.

Many people are coming to work at Thamel staying at Torai. The people, whose offices seemingly risky, are waiting for repairing of those buildings. There were about two thousand hotels and lodges at Thamel, Paknazal and Chetrapathi. So long all were closed but now gradually some hotels are opening.

Some consumers were found to purchase goods from medicine shops, show-piece shops, antics shops, dress shops and also drinks outlets. The hotel owners, shop owners and taxi drivers are trying to get back their earnings from their business.

After the tremor, the fare of the taxi was much higher in comparison to older rates. The rate which was only one hundred or one hundred fifty rupees for the distance they demanded one thousand rupees instead. Their exorbitant high fare was justified by saying that there was dearth of fuel.

Now the situation has changed and becoming normal in all cases.

The crowdie shopping spots namely, Thamel, City Center, Vishal Bazar, New Road, Katmandu Mahal and Arbi Complex though still to get back old days still the gathering is hopeful.

The scenes at the shops and the movement of the people now portray that Nepal is recovering from the greatest natural trauma.

Many shops and outlets in Trahiti, Kuabahal and Chetrapathi were found opened. Though no purchaser was found still the sops will remain open, said shop owners.

At the round circle of Chetrapathi, some young boys and girls were found lighting candles in memory of the people who died in the tragic earthquake.

The seller of the shops informed that they are not staying here rather they are moving elsewhere for safety.

Practically no shopkeepers or office goers are staying at Thamel because still there are aftershocks of tremor. So no one dares to stay here at the risky structures.
