DHAKA: Multiple explosions have taken place around the Afghan parliament in the capital Kabul.
A security official told the media gunfire was also heard outside the building. Live television footage showed lawmakers being evacuated amid smoke, reports the BBC.
It is not immediately clear what has caused the blast or whether there are any casualties.
Local media report another explosion in the Dahmazang area of Kabul city.
The candidate for the Afghan defense ministry, Massoum Stanikzai was scheduled to go to Parliament on a vote of confidence today, says the BBC’s Waheed Massoud, in Kabul.
