DHAKA: A 51-year-old North Dakota mother who acted as a surrogate for her daughter gave birth to her own grandchild.
After Sherri Dickson experienced the pain of watching her daughter, Mandy Stephens, lose a child she decided to step in when her daughter was considering options for another pregnancy, reports dailymail.co.uk.
While there could be complications due to her age and multiple sclerosis diagnosis, the decision came easy for Dickson who gave birth to her granddaughter four weeks ago.
Following two attempts made with in vitro fertilization, she was pregnant with her grandchild by November 2014.
'Pregnancy was easy,' the mother of three said. 'I was very fortunate… I was playing tennis a week before I delivered and working out with my trainer, but the delivery at 51 was way harder than the delivery at 33 with my last baby.'
Stephens and her husband, Jamie, had first gotten pregnant after marrying in 2013 through in vitro fertilization when they had trouble conceiving.
