Confusion over Russian airliner ‘missing in Sinai’

DHAKA: Confusion surrounds the fate of a Russian airliner carrying more than 200 people that went missing after taking off from Egypt’s Sinai peninsula.

One report said the plane, flying to Russia from Sharm al-Sheikh, had reappeared over Turkey, reports the BBC.

But other reports in the Egyptian media said it had crashed in Sinai, while a Russian report said it had gone missing near Cyprus.

Most passengers are Russian tourists.
