4.7 earthquake hits Assam

DHAKA: An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter Scale hit Assam on Wednesday dawn.

The epicentre of the quake was located Dokmoka in Assam.

The quake, which has been reportedly felt in several other north-eastern states, 34km (21mi) SSW of Bokakhat, India; was felt at 5.06 am.

The quake was very shallow, at a depth of just 10km.

No casualty or damage to property have been reported so far.
