30 killed in Zimbabwe bus crash

DHAKA: At least 30 people were killed and 36 others injured when a bus collided with a commuter minibus on the main road between the capital Harare and Bulawayo.

“I can confirm there was a horrific road accident on Friday involving a conventional bus and a minibus,” said police spokesperson Charity Charamba.

The accident came days after five people were killed in another collision resulting from a burst tyre, reports the africanews.com.

Officer Charamba said the accident happened when one of the buses had a tyre burst and veered onto the opposite side of the road.

Road accidents are common in the country with disintegrated highways after an economic plunge that led to neglect in infrastructure.
