KOLKATA: The death toll in the collapse of an under construction flyover in the eastern Indian city of Kolkata rose to 29.

Besides, over hundred people are feared trapped under the concrete and steel bridge, which collapsed on a busy road here.

Meanwhile, the government and non-government hospitals are suffering from shortage of blood to treat the injured.

The political parties and other organizations have urged the youth to donate blood to fight the situation. Many people responded to the call.

Rescuers along with army personnel have worked through the night.

Meanwhile, the officials said more than 90 people have been rescued, some of whom where in hospital in a critical condition.

Police chief Ajay Tyagi said “Many could still be buried below the debris.”
