Pakistan blast death toll rises to 53

DHAKA: The death toll in a loud explosion inside the Civil Hospital in Quetta on Monday (August 8) rose to 53.

Besides, more than 30 people were injured in the attack.

“The blast occurred after a number of lawyers and some journalists had gathered at the hospital following the death of the president of the Balochistan Bar Association in a separate shooting incident early this morning,” said Balochistan Home Secretary Akbar Harifal, reports the dawn.com.

Condemning the attack, Balochistan Chief Minister Sanaullah Zehri told Geo News that Indian intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) was behind terror incidents in Quetta.

He shared the statement with the media before initial investigations into the blast were completed, and before the nature of the blast was confirmed.

Zehri said the attack appeared to be a suicide attack, but police are still investigating.
