DHAKA: At least seven people were killed in a bomb blast followed by gunmen attack in a seaside restaurant in Somalia capital Mogadishu on Friday (August 26).
A car bomb exploded outside Banadir Beach Club and Restaurant in city’s Lido area and then the gunman stormed the eatery, BBC reports.
Police officials told reporters that the have managed to kill two gunmen and captured one following an overnight six-hour operation.
The militant Islamist group al-Shabab stages regular attacks in Mogadishu and other parts of Somalia.
Earlier this year, they carried out attack in another restaurant in the same area killing 17 people.
Al-Shabab, which is linked to al-Qaeda, was expelled from the capital Mogadishu in 2011 but remained strong in other areas with a stronghold in southern Somalia.
