RIYADH: Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and other Middle East countries will celebrate Eid al-Adha, one of two important religious festivals of Muslim community, on September 12 as the Zul Hijjah moon was not sighted.
KSA Supreme Court issued a royal decree in this regard on Thursday evening (local time, September 1).
Usually, Bangladesh celebrates the festival in the following day of Saudi Arabia’s celebration.
Following this, the Muslim community of Bangladesh will celebrate Eid al-Adha on September 13.
Eid ul-Azha honors the willingness of Abraham to sacrifice his promised son, Ishmael as an act of submission to God’s command.
Eid celebrations start after the descent of the pilgrims performing from Mount Arafat, a hill east of Makkah. Eid sacrifices - where an animal, often a goat, is slaughtered - may take place any day from 10th to 13th Zul Hijjah.
