DHAKA: At least 12 members of Egypt’s security forces have been killed and eight injured in an attack on a checkpoint in North Sinai province.

Medical and security sources confirmed the matter to media.

The attack on Friday (October 14) took place at 40km from the town of Bir al-Abd.

It was carried out using assault rifles and some heavier weapons, sources added.

Those wounded were taken to hospital in el-Arish.
