At least 59 cadets were killed and 116 injured after terrorists stormed into a Police Training College in the Pakistani city of Quetta on Monday night.
Talking to the media, Balochistan Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti said that the operation has been completed by security forces, reports Geo News.
Bugti said that 700 police recruits were present at the time of the attack.
He further said that one terrorist was killed by security forces while two others blew themselves up. A clearance operation has also been successfully completed.
IG FC Major General Sher Afghan informed the press that the attackers were getting directions from Afghanistan and the initial investigation suggests that the terrorists were affiliated with Lashkar-e- Jhangvi Al Almi.
Hospital sources said that at least 57 dead bodies have been shifted to different hospitals while 116 people including police recruits and several Frontier Corps (FC) personnel have also been injured in the terrorist attack.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) of Pakistan, five to six terrorists had stormed the police training centre.
Those injured in the attack have been brought to the Civil Hospital Quetta and CMH, hospital. They included recruits, who attempted to flee the centre as terrorists waged the attack.
Earlier, Chief Minister Balochistan Sanaullah Zehri said terrorists had attacked the training centre located in the suburbs of Quetta.
A recruit who witnessed the entire situation said nearly four militants barged into the training centre around 9:30 PM and opened indiscriminate fire. “Then, they entered into the barracks,” he added.
Sources said the attackers also lobbed three crackers which resulted in a fire breaking out inside the centre.
Meanwhile, an emergency has been imposed in the hospitals across the provincial capital.
